These terms govern your use of the NovaMagnolia website, route packs, Walking Club membership and guided city walks. By booking or joining, you agree to them. Last updated 1 January 2026.
These terms form an agreement between you and NovaMagnolia, 4-10-22 Funabori, Edogawa-ku, Tokyo 134-0091. Please read them carefully together with our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with them, please do not use our services.
We offer downloadable and printable walking route packs, a monthly Neighborhood Walking Club with group walks, and guided city walks in selected areas of Tokyo and Kyoto. Routes, schedules and prices are described on this website and may change from season to season.
A booking is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email from us. Walking Club membership renews monthly until you cancel. You can cancel at any time before your next renewal date by contacting us; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current month.
All prices are shown in Japanese yen and include consumption tax. Payment for route packs and guided walks is due at the time of booking. Club membership is charged in advance each month. Costs of personal food, drinks and train fares during walks are not included unless stated.
You may cancel a guided city walk free of charge up to 48 hours before the start time. Cancellations made later than that are non-refundable, but we will try to offer a new date. Missed club walks cannot be carried over to the next month. Digital route packs are non-refundable once downloaded, except where required by law.
Your safety comes first. We may shorten, reroute, reschedule or cancel a walk because of heavy rain, typhoons, heat stroke alerts, earthquakes or other circumstances. If we cancel a walk, you will receive a full refund or a make-up date of your choice.
Our walks are designed for people of ordinary fitness. You are responsible for judging whether a walk is suitable for you and for consulting a doctor if you have any health concerns. Please follow your walk leader's instructions, obey traffic signals and local rules, and let us know of any condition that may affect you during a walk. You may stop at any point.
Our routes pass through residential neighborhoods, shrines and temples. We ask all participants to keep voices low in residential lanes, respect private property and photography restrictions, and dispose of rubbish properly. We may ask anyone who behaves unsafely or disrespectfully to leave a walk without a refund.
Route maps, texts, photographs and other materials provided by NovaMagnolia are protected by copyright. Route packs are licensed for your personal, non-commercial use only and may not be resold or republished.
To the extent permitted by law, NovaMagnolia is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of or damage to personal belongings during walks. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Japanese law, including liability arising from our intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
Walking Club membership runs month to month. You can pause it for up to two months a year — handy for the rainy season or a busy period at work — by letting us know before your next renewal date. Cancelling stops the next payment; the current month remains active until it ends. Membership is personal and cannot be shared with a friend, though members are always welcome to bring a guest to one walk a month.
Route packs are digital maps and notes for walking on your own. They are for your personal use, and you may print them or keep them on your phone, but please do not resell or republish them. Because a pack is delivered by email the moment you buy it, we cannot offer refunds once it has been sent, but if a route has changed — a shopping street rebuilt or a park path closed — tell us and we will send an updated version free of charge.
Group walks start on time from the meeting point given in your confirmation, usually a station exit. If you are running late, call the studio and we will tell you where to catch up along the route. Walks are not refunded for late arrival, but you are welcome to join the following week’s walk instead.
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising from them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance.
